Nani’s The Paradise is set to stream on Netflix, but with one big change. The OTT version is 25 minutes shorter than the theatrical cut.
Netflix lists the film’s runtime as 2 hours 30 minutes. That means about 25 minutes of the version audiences saw in theatres won’t be on the streaming platform.
Theatrical vs Netflix Runtime
- Theatrical: approx 2h 55m
- Netflix: 2h 30m
- Difference: 25 minutes
Streaming From October 22
The Paradise begins streaming on Netflix from October 22. The Netflix page is already live, and users can set reminders ahead of the premiere.
What’s Been Cut?
The makers haven’t said which portions have been trimmed. A 25-minute cut is a big change, almost the length of a full episode of a web series.
Fans are now curious about whether the cuts are from songs, action blocks or slower parts of the story. Some are hoping for a tighter, faster version, while others worry key moments may be missing.
A Tighter Film for OTT?
Shorter OTT versions are becoming more common. Streaming audiences tend to prefer tighter runtimes, and makers often use the OTT release as a chance to trim portions that didn’t work in theatres.
If the cuts make the story move faster, the Netflix version could even win over viewers who felt the theatrical cut was too long.
The Story
Netflix describes the film as the story of a reluctant hero in 1980s India who leads a marginalised community in its fight against oppressors, for citizenship and dignity.
Directed by Srikanth Odela, who earlier made Dasara with Nani, The Paradise stars Nani in a rugged, braided-hair avatar. Kayadu Lohar and Mohan Babu play key roles.
How It Did in Theatres
The Paradise closed its theatrical run with around ₹170 Cr gross worldwide. Now, with a shorter cut and Netflix’s global reach, the film gets a second chance to reach a much wider audience.
